La revue des marraines (1916-1917), een tijdschrift voor oorlogsmeters en hun petekinderen.
Abstract
This article is situated at the crossroads of First World War and periodical studies. It sheds light on the phenomenon of the war godmothers (marraines), women who supported soldiers at the front by sending them parcels and letters. The godmothers made use of the mainstream press to advertise their services, and founded periodicals of their own. One of these periodicals is La revue des marraines, founded by the Mlles Picard in Paris. In this article, we uncover La revue des marraines and examine how the journal imagines the relation between godmother and godson.
