Abstract

The Restorative Dentistry Oncology Web site <www.mouthcancerawareness.org> is an example of the use of information and communication technology (ICT) to support head and neck (H&N) cancer care. It has: (i) improved patients' access to information about these cancers; (ii) provided supportive measures to reduce uncertainty and fear in patients by facilitating contact with fellow sufferers; (iii) improved health professionals' access to information to facilitate oral care for cancer patients; and (iv) played a role in increasing awareness of mouth cancers amongst the public.
