Abstract
This article reveals the mechanism involved in the mutually complementary commodification of education and labor, and the results of this commodification. Emphasizing institutional factors, this article argues that the state plays a dominant role in the combination of the two types of commodification. It also scrutinizes the impact of this dual commodification on student workers—deskilling, alienation, fragmented social lives, and industrial injury—as well as their response. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License.
