Abstract
A psychosocial model of psychiatric rehabilitation known as the Clubhouse, has been founded on the principles of peer support and empowerment and now is recognized as part of the United States National Registry of Evidenced-based Practices and Programs (NREPP). The objectives of this article are to align recovery-oriented principles with clubhouse practices and offer ecological and psychological theoretical frameworks to further understand the clubhouse methodology. Specifically, Bronfenbrenner's ecological theory of development and Bandura's Social Cognitive Theory within the context of a humanistic environment are examined in relation to clubhouse programming. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License.
