Abstract

"Management rights" have provided one of the major negotiating issues in police collective bargaining. This study analyzes some major municipal police contracts in the United States, describes general and specific police management rights clauses, draws conclusions about the future growth of such clauses, and discusses future management and union responses to the issues.
