Abstract

This paper demonstrates how the analysis-of-options technique can be incorporated into the negotiations process. The paper explains what the technique is, how it can be adjusted to the needs of management and labor during collective bargaining, and how options analysis helps both sides to get a clearer grasp of their available alternatives and the consequences of various choices and decisions at different stages of bargaining.
