Abstract
Using data from 270 California public school districts, the process costs of collective bargaining are correlated with organizational variables and bargaining experience. Multiple regression results show process costs strongly associated with 1) organizational size and complexity, 2) strikes and other labor activity, and 3) use of labor relations and executive expertise, but weakly associated with 4) the duration of negotiations, and 5) financial resources available to the school district. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License.
