Editorial: Blogging for health

Abstract

Weblogs (blogs) are online diaries. They comprise information posted in 'chunks', usually in reverse chronological order with the most recent at the top and the oldest at the bottom. Once posts reach a certain age they 'fall off' the bottom of the page and are archived. Posts can be on anything the blogger wants them to be: descriptions of their day; musings on events; photos; links to interesting sites and resources; news stories and personal commentary on these; narratives or storytelling. Some blogs include comments from their readers or are produced by more than one author or by a community.
