The success of pancreas transplantation has steadily improved over the past several years as evidenced by the increasing numbers of transplants performed and the improving graft survival rates. The development of new immunosuppressive regimens is one of the primary reasons for this increased success. In this review, the authors examine the immunosuppressive options for pancreas transplant recipients and describe current and future immunosuppressive trends for these difficult transplants.
